Chinese ZTE and Dutch telecommunications service provider KPN jointly announced a LTE (Long Term Evolution) application development program in Germany and Belgium, according to a February 17, 2011 press release by ZTE. It is reported that a field trial program, focusing on both FDD-LTE (Frequency Division Duplex-LTE) and TDD-LTE (Time Division Duplex-LTE), has been set up by the two companies for 2011. The field trial is projected to test the capabilities of ZTE's commercial equipment.
